Sparklight is pleased to celebrate the creative and insightful voices of Rim Country Middle School students who recently participated in an essay contest about healthy social media habits. The contest provided the school’s 500+ students the opportunity to learn about internet safety, refine their writing skills and win cash prizes donated by Sparklight.
The essay contest challenged students to explore the impact of social media and share their ideas for maintaining balance in a digital world. The winning essays not only demonstrated critical thinking but also offered inspiring solutions for navigating social media in a positive, mindful way. First place winners received a $100 prize from Sparklight, while runners-up were awarded $50 each. These talented young writers were recognized at Payson Days in October for their outstanding achievements. Join us in congratulating all the winners and celebrating their hard work and creativity!
“This essay contest was an ideal opportunity for students to think about social media habits that are healthy for themselves and their peers,” said Rim Country Middle School Language Arts teacher and contest coordinator Gail Wade. “Not only did students enhance their writing skills through their essays, but they also gleaned insights on positive online behavior that are essential for academic and life success. This topic aligns with our school’s goal of encouraging students to engage with technology responsibly and using it to help others. We are thrilled to have an internet provider like Sparklight, who understands these objectives, supporting this contest.”
“Sparklight is proud to have partnered with our hardworking educators on this initiative,” said Sparklight’s Payson-area Marketing Director David Williams. “This contest encouraged critical thinking on the important topics of internet safety, online interactions and responsible posting. As students spend more and more time on these platforms, this experience can help them gain practical ideas – and share with their friends and families.”
