Cable ONE partnered with the HISTORY Channel this month for “Take a Veteran to School Day,” an outreach initiative created in honor of Veterans Day. Honored veterans are invited to attend events at local K-12 schools across Cable ONE markets to share their stories with students and receive a heartfelt “thank you” for their service.
Take a Veteran to School Day is HISTORY’s premiere public affairs outreach program, connecting veterans from all walks of life with students in schools and communities nationwide. In 2017, more than 5,000 schools in all 50 states are expected to participate. As part of this campaign, HISTORY offers participating schools curriculum-based educational materials at www.veterans.com as well as a Veterans Day video produced with the US Department of Education, all provided free-of-charge.
“Cable ONE is thrilled to participate in this initiative, which will not only bring history to life for elementary and middle school children, but honor our local veterans as well,” said Cable ONE Marketing Director Nanci Doucet.
This is the 10th year that Cable ONE has partnered with HISTORY for “Take a Veteran to School Day.”
“We are so pleased to be working with Cable ONE to honor veterans in this community,” said Dr. Libby O’Connell, Chief Historian and SVP, Corporate Outreach for HISTORY. “As part of this program, students will not only learn about Veterans Day, but they will also learn important life lessons about service and commitment. And in the process, the veterans will receive a well-deserved thank you from all of us.”
