Sparklight Awards $1,000 to Nokomis resident building A Stronger Connection in her community

Sparklight Linda Liebscher

Sparklight® recently awarded $1,000 to Nokomis resident Linda Liebscher for making a difference in her community as part of the internet service provider’s “A Stronger Connection” social media campaign.

Liebscher is one of the founders of Cross Over Ministries. According to the nomination submitted by Diane Singler, Liebscher’s dedication, vision, leadership, and determination has made it possible to deliver suicide and drug prevention programs to her local schools. She has also been instrumental in community healing and wellness events, Singler said, including mental health awareness walks and 5K runs, support to first responders during the pandemic, financial support for mental health medications, and more. Recently, under Liebscher’s guidance, Cross Over Ministries has begun offering trained Recovery Peer Support for those struggling with mental health and substance abuse challenges.

Giving back to my community is one way to honor Jesus and be involved in the lives of people who desire recovery opportunities,” said Liebscher. “They inspire me each day. I also couldn’t do this without the Cross Over Ministries team.”

Liebscher plans to use the $1,000 to financially support the salaries of a new group of Recovery Peer Support interns who will be starting their training this month. She’s also reserved a portion of the award for a celebratory dinner with the Cross Over Ministries Team.

“We’re honored to recognize Linda’s amazing work in Nokomis community, who is truly impacting the lives of her friends and neighbors,” said Kenny Wright, Sparklight General Manager. “She is impacting the lives in our local schools as well as throughout our community. Just as we’re committed to connecting our customers and communities to what matters most, Linda is building stronger connections and making a difference in Montgomery County.”

Individuals throughout the 21 states Sparklight serves were nominated by fellow community members who shared how the nominee works to build connections in their community.

Sparklight awarded $1,000 each to 12 individuals through its “A Stronger Connection” social media campaign. Winning individuals are highlighted on Sparklight’s social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.
