Sparklight®, a leading broadband communications provider, is nearing completion on a half-million-dollar project that will further strengthen the reliability of its high-speed internet service to residential and business customers in Ashdown, Wilton and Ogden, Arkansas.
The infrastructure upgrade, which is anticipated to be complete by the end of August, included installing six miles of new fiber between Texarkana and Ashdown, Arkansas, and boring a 400-foot-long shaft beneath the Red River – a challenging task that required highly specialized equipment and expertise.
“While this was a complex project, Sparklight is invested in building a network designed to meet the rapidly evolving technology needs of our customers,” said Sparklight Regional General Manager, Sonny Malone. “We understand that families and businesses are reliant on the internet in their day-to-day lives and we are committed to providing fast, reliable and local service that our community can count on.”
With investments of more than $1 billion over the past three years across its footprint, Sparklight is laying the groundwork to launch speeds as fast as 10 Gigabits (10G) and beyond. Delivering speed 10 times faster than today’s networks, 10G will transform the customer experience, creating new possibilities for smart cities, connected homes, virtual and augmented reality and business.
Sparklight currently provides speeds up to 1 Gig for residential customers and up to 5 Gigs for business customers over its fiber-powered network in the Ashdown area.
