Sparklight Business® recently completed construction of a fiber-optic network that will provide fast and reliable high-speed internet service to students and staff at the Orme School in Mayer, Arizona.
Sparklight’s new network will deliver speeds up to 500 Mbps to the international boarding school and will have the ability to handle the needs of students, teachers and staff — now and in the future.
“Because we’re a boarding school, our faculty and students not only teach and learn at Orme, but they live here 10 months out of the year,” said Eden-Dylan Sears, Technology & Library Director at the Orme School. “With this new fiber-optic network, our students are able to engage and learn virtually with ease and all 120 members of our community can use multiple devices to watch movies or play games online without connectivity disruptions. We are so thankful to Sparklight for meeting all our needs.”
Prior to Sparklight’s partnership with the Orme School, students and staff had access to only 75 Mbps internet service, which made virtual learning and streaming during the pandemic difficult for the rural boarding school.
“With the completion of this project, it’s amazing to see the positive impact Sparklight Business has already had on students and teachers at the Orme School,” said Chris Boone, Sparklight Senior Vice President of Business Services and Emerging Markets. “Now, more than ever, seamless connectivity is critical in keeping our customers connected to the essentials like work and school – and additionally, for the Orme School, entertainment during their down time. We look forward to continuing to fulfill our purpose of connecting customers and communities to what matters most, and eliminating the digital divide for students and schools in rural areas throughout our footprint.”
