Sparklight® recently completed construction of a $17 million, state-of-the-art, fiber-rich network in Kirksville, Missouri, building a majority of the network underground to further strengthen the reliability of its high-speed internet service to residential and business customers.

“Our new underground network will reduce the impact of events such as fiber cuts and severe weather, including ice storms or strong winds that could otherwise take the network offline,” said Martin Stitzer, Sparklight General Manager. “We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our community and the support of the City of Kirksville as we completed this project. This new network will enable us to continue to meet the evolving digital needs of our customers while delivering high-value service and a quality customer experience.”

Sparklight’s new cutting-edge network is built with advanced, future-proof technology that will benefit customers today, as well as lay the groundwork for future expansion and technological advancements, including 10G for residential customers.

“Reliable internet is a key component of infrastructure and essential for economic growth that will help us attract and retain businesses in our community,” said Mari Macomber, City Manager of Kirksville. “We’re thankful for Sparklight’s $17 million investment in our city through the construction of this new state-of-the-art network, which will provide our residents and businesses the high-speed internet service they need to keep them connected for years to come.”

Sparklight Business currently offers up to 10 Gig symmetrical speeds over a dedicated fiber connection to larger Kirksville organizations, government agencies, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.
