Sparklight® recently awarded $1,000 to Sioux City resident Kathy Banta for making a difference in her community as part of the internet service provider’s “A Stronger Connection” social media campaign.
According to the nomination submitted by Joey Volquartsen, Banta works tirelessly for her friends and community. She is currently starting a nonprofit theatre group serving underserved areas of Sioux City. Banta is also passionate about animals and adopts dogs with disabilities to make sure they have a loving home.
“I’m so honored to be a winner of Sparklight’s ‘A Stronger Connection’ contest,” said Banta. “Every time I give back to my community in any way, it just feels like the right thing to do.”
Banta will use the $1,000 she received from Sparklight to help pay for costumes for a show she’s doing in November as part of a global theatre fundraiser called “All Together Now.”
“We’re honored to recognize Kathy for all she’s doing to enhance creativity in an underserved area of Sioux City,” said Mike Drahota, Sparklight General Manager. “Just as we, here at Sparklight, are committed to connecting our customers and communities to what matters most, Kathy is building stronger connections and making a difference in community.”
Individuals throughout the 21 states Sparklight serves were nominated by fellow community members who shared how the nominee works to build connections in their community.
