Sparklight Donates to South Central Missouri Community Action Agency, Supports Poplar Bluff Community Following Tornadoes

In response to the recent tornadoes that impacted the Poplar Bluff area, Sparklight® has stepped up to support the local community by helping residents stay connected and recover.

To aid ongoing recovery efforts, Sparklight recently donated $5,000 to the South Central Missouri Community Action Agency. These funds will help provide critical resources and support for families affected by the storm.

“We are truly grateful to Sparklight for their generous $5,000 donation to support tornado recovery efforts in Poplar Bluff,” said Steve Halter, President of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce. “This contribution will make a significant impact in helping our community rebuild and support those affected. It’s heartwarming to see local businesses like Sparklight step up and invest in our community during challenging times. Thank you for making a difference!”

In addition to the donation, Sparklight is supporting connectivity for residents through a public Wi-Fi hotspot at the Black River Coliseum. The hotspot, which has been open since March 15, offers free internet access to those impacted by outages or without home internet service, providing a vital connection to emergency resources and loved ones. The company is also offering a Wi-Fi hotspot in the parking lot of its local office, located at 3000 N. Westwood Blvd. in Poplar Bluff.  Both hotspots will remain open throughout the recovery period.

“As a part of the Poplar Bluff community, we understand how vital it is to stay connected—especially in times of crisis,” said Sam McGill, Director, Regional Operations North Central. “We’re proud to support the South Central Missouri Community Action Agency and help our neighbors begin to rebuild. Whether it’s through a donation or internet access, Sparklight is committed to standing with our community every step of the way.”

Sparklight employs local team members who live and work in the Poplar Bluff community. Their dedication to restoring service and supporting neighbors has been unwavering through tornado recovery, as they worked around the clock to assess network damage, repair fiber lines and ensure fast, reliable connectivity was restored to residents and businesses as quickly as possible.

“As recovery continues, Sparklight remains focused on being a reliable neighbor and a source of support in Poplar Bluff,” McGill said.  “Whether it’s powering connections through our fiber-powered network or helping the community rebuild stronger than before, we’re here for the long haul—because that’s what neighbors do.”
